What interests me in Paula Scher’s work is the physicality of her typography and its ability to challenge itself as image, architecture, and language. Her compositions possess both immediacy and structural complexity.

YOU ME explores the topology of human relationships through semiotics and graphic tension. For Scher, the use of a large oak woodblock became essential to the work. The physical resistance of the material allowed the image to acquire a directness and force that could not have emerged through another process.
